“Approximately 50% of jobs will stay remote.”
JOHN CHUANG / CEO, AQUENT
As we mark one year since the start of COVID related rules that changed everyone’s lives, it’s not all bad news when it comes to employment. In fact, there were several trends that took off over the past year that were a “win-win” for both employers and employees. Some firms that had supply chains stretched out all over the world have discovered cost effective local producers. That means more local jobs. Perhaps the most dramatic change to come about as a result of the pandemic was the rise of remote work. John Chuang, CEO of Aquent, says the trend is here to stay. “A third of jobs will go back to normal, a third of jobs will be fully remote, and a third will be hybrid.” While 2020 presented immense challenges to businesses and the job market, the good news is that many of the strategies developed over the course of last year will be helpful as we rebound and move forward.
