Companies should not “get a free pass from the government”

As the COVID-19 pandemic spreads, it's separating essential workers — who continue to take risks on everyone's behalf — from the nonessential. We've all come to rely on gig workers. Aquent has started giving its 10,000 contractors paid sick leave, and CEO John Chuang urged major gig companies to do the same instead of getting a “free pass [from the government] to continue profiting off the mistreatment of their workers.”
