Senior Financial Analyst (Data & AI Operations)

Location: Houston, TX

Experience: 6–7 Years

Focus: Financial Business Partnering, Cost Center Management, & Data Visualization

Role Summary

We are seeking a high-energy, autonomous Senior Financial Analyst to serve as the dedicated finance partner for our Data & AI Organization. In this role, you will move beyond basic accounting to own the financial narrative of our technical initiatives. You will bridge the gap between complex ERP data and actionable business strategy, ensuring our AI investments are tracked, forecasted, and optimized. We are looking for a “go-getter” who thrives in fast-paced environments and requires minimal oversight to deliver executive-ready financial overviews.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Stewardship: Act as the primary finance contact for the Data & AI org, managing complex cost centers and tracking high-value project spend.
  • ERP Data Extraction: Navigate SAP to run transactions, extract reports, and verify the integrity of financial data without needing technical consultant support.
  • Dynamic Reporting: Transform raw data into sophisticated Excel models and Power BI dashboards that provide a real-time overview of organizational finances.
  • Forecasting & Variance: Lead the monthly forecasting process, identifying “tricky” areas of risk and explaining the “why” behind budget variances to technical leadership.
  • Operational Integration: Partner with Data & AI leads to understand their roadmap, translating technical milestones into financial requirements and headcount planning.
  • Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify financial leakage or budget overages before they occur, providing “early warning” signals to the leadership team.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting is required.
  • Experience: 6–7 years of progressive experience in a Financial Analyst role, specifically supporting a technical or project-based organization.
  • SAP Proficiency: Must be comfortable “running the engine”—knowing which transactions to pull and how to interpret the numbers (e.g., Cost Center Actuals, Project Line Items).
  • Data Visualization: Advanced mastery of Excel (Pivot Tables, Power Query) and Power BI is essential for creating clear, visual overviews of spend.
  • The “Go-Getter” Mindset: Proven ability to take the lead, work independently, and “figure it out” in a fast-moving environment.
  • Communication: Ability to translate “finance speak” for technical leads and vice versa.
