We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced leader to join a dynamic team as an Environmental Services Supervisor/Lead. In this pivotal role, you will directly shape the patient experience and contribute to the overall well-being of the entire facility. Your leadership will ensure a clean, safe, and efficient environment, directly supporting critical healthcare operations and upholding the organization’s commitment to quality. You will empower a dedicated team, implement best practices, and drive continuous improvement in environmental services.
**What You’ll Do:**
* Create and maintain staff schedules, upholding HR policies and providing ongoing training and development.
* Evaluate work habits, performance, and attendance of staff, documenting and making recommendations for performance, retention, and/or promotion, and taking corrective action as needed.
* Maintain required records, gather statistics, and prepare essential reports.
* Monitor workflows and implement changes to enhance the quality and efficiency of services.
* Plan, schedule, and direct staff to assigned areas, monitoring progress and providing constructive feedback.
* Regularly tour facilities, covering each assigned area to observe and inspect cleanliness and work in progress.
* Train staff in cleaning and disinfecting techniques, chemical agent and equipment use, infectious material handling, and general environmental maintenance specific to acute care settings, ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation policies.
* Ensure employees adhere to company policies and legal regulations.
* Serve as a crucial link between staff and upper management.
* Participate actively in the hiring process, screening, interviewing, and providing recommendations for candidate selection.
* Perform daily Patient Satisfaction rounds to solicit immediate patient feedback and ensure service standards are consistently met.
* Be available for on-call duties during non-standard hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to meet business needs and respond to emergencies.
**Must-Have Qualifications:**
* High school diploma or GED equivalent.
* Experience managing 25 or more full-time employees.
* Strong knowledge of floor care.
* In-depth knowledge of Infection Prevention/Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI).
* Ability to gather, analyze, and provide clear and concise information both verbally and in writing.
* Ability to learn and work within specific department/unit/agency office policies and procedures, and to apply relevant laws, rules, policies, or procedures.
* Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of personnel records and patient information, handling sensitive matters discreetly and applying relevant regulations and policies.
* Ability to work effectively, exercise initiative, apply reason and judgment in prioritizing changing and/or conflicting tasks, work under pressure in a fast-paced setting, cope effectively with interruptions, handle a high volume workload with accuracy and efficiency, and meet deadlines.
* Ability to work efficiently as a team member and establish and maintain cooperative and productive working relationships with all levels of medical, professional, administrative, and support personnel.
* Proficiency in using basic office equipment (photocopier, fax, printer, telephone, desktop computer) and maintaining orderly and accurate files and records (electronic and hard copy).
* Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, and/or database software, with the ability to quickly learn and become proficient in staffing and scheduling applications.
**Nice-to-Have Qualifications:**
* Bachelor’s degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university.
* Experience in a union environment.
* Experience with Joint Commission standards.
