Technical Digital Asset Manager (Motion & Video Workflows)
Role Overview: We are seeking a highly technical Digital Asset Manager to oversee the lifecycle, storage, and archiving of our complex motion graphics and video workflows. Supporting a global design organization of over 400 tenants and managing a footprint of 5+ petabytes, this role is the critical bridge between our creative motion teams and our enterprise storage solutions (including high-performance on-prem servers, Frame.io, and digital asset management tools). You will ensure that massive project files, render caches, and complex asset dependencies are managed efficiently from active production through to deep archive, preventing data loss and eliminating workflow bottlenecks.
- Location: Remote; must currently reside within 100 miles of Culver City
- Pay Comments: W2, weekly pay, benefits, 401k w/ match
- Background screening required
⚠️ Please note: This is a systems governance, operations, and workflow development role, not a creative design or video editing position. While deep technical fluency in post-production applications and workflows is mandatory, portfolio submissions or design samples are not required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pipeline Management: Oversee the organization and storage of active “hot” motion projects, ensuring animators and editors are utilizing high-speed storage correctly and not bottlenecking local or cloud sync drives.
- Novel & Spatial Workflows: Adapt processes to accommodate cutting-edge and novel workflows, including motion capture, spatial capture, and emerging hardware asset types.
- Process Standardization & Adoption: Act as a cross-functional change agent and empathetic “enforcer” to unify varied, legacy workflows across different internal studio teams. Successfully manage stakeholder expectations and run alignment sessions to ensure studio-wide compliance with new processes.
- Asset Dependency & Packaging: Manage the complex linking of source files (footage, vectors, audio). Execute project packaging (e.g., After Effects “Collect Files”) to ensure projects can be safely archived and recalled years later without broken links.
- Archiving & Taxonomy: Lead the migration of wrapped motion projects into cold storage. Apply rigorous metadata tagging and universal taxonomies to source files, renders, and project files so they can be easily searched and retrieved without prior project knowledge.
- Vendor & Handoff Coordination: Facilitate the secure transfer of massive source files and ProRes masters between internal teams and external post-production vendors.
- System Governance: Monitor storage capacities, render caches, and scratch disks. Act as the primary technical liaison between the motion design team and our IT/infrastructure partners to troubleshoot server-side performance issues.
- Workflow Development & Optimization: Continuously evaluate and improve existing workflows, identifying efficiencies and ideating enhancements to our asset management processes as you become familiar with how everything functions.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 4 to 5+ years of experience in digital asset management, post-production supervision, or technical operations. Highly seasoned candidates who match the technical scope are welcome.
- Industry Background: Experience working within a high-volume media, broadcast, entertainment, e-commerce, large-scale tech platform, or global retail/apparel organization (e.g., highly matrixed, fast-moving corporate environments).
- Technical Ecosystem: Deep technical understanding of motion and video file formats, codecs, and project dependencies.
- Software Fluency: Native fluency and understanding of the Adobe Creative Cloud ecosystem (specifically After Effects and Premiere Pro) and familiarity with 3D pipelines (e.g., Cinema 4D) to speak the language of post-production teams.
- Storage Infrastructure: Experience managing assets across enterprise DAMs, SAN/NAS high-performance storage, and cloud review tools like Frame.io. Strong understanding of data lifecycles (hot, warm, cold storage) and enterprise security protocols.
- Interpersonal Leadership: Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills; a collaborative spirit who can confidently navigate highly cross-functional environments and introduce disruptive process improvements with diplomacy.
Please note this is a remote position, but you must currently reside within 100 miles of Culver City, CA.
