Our top financial client is seeking an advanced Interaction Designer to join their team for a hybrid role in Toronto!

Join our Online Banking (OLB) Channel Pillar as an Interaction Designer. We are a dedicated, collaborative design team of 5 designers and a Design Manager, currently supporting 3 fast-paced product squads. In this role, you won’t just design in a vacuum—you will be a vital connector, collaborating across various OLB squads and partnering directly with our RIG (Design Systems) team to scale our digital ecosystem.

Your mission is to craft intuitive, simplified self-service online banking capabilities. You will empower our clients to manage their finances confidently and independently, directly impacting their day-to-day banking experience.

What You’ll Do:

  • Solve Complex Challenges: Tackle ambiguous, complex banking workflows and transform them into elegant, user-centric design solutions.
  • Champion the Design System: Collaborate with designers and developers to implement our design system, ensuring code and documentation remain highly accurate, uniform, and up to date.
  • Drive Product Delivery: Actively participate in product delivery through proactive planning, task assignment, and high-quality execution.
  • Advance the Practice: Mentor peers, promote design system adoption, and actively maintain and evolve our shared design libraries.

What You’ll Bring:

In this role, success means moving beyond execution to true ownership. Over time, you will develop deep domain expertise in digital banking, becoming a key voice in strategic decision-making. You will build strong cross-functional relationships, guiding projects with empathy, cultivating a growth mindset, and instilling a systems-thinking approach across the team.

Must-Have Experience:

  • 4–7 years of dedicated experience in Interaction/UX Design (with specific expertise across Interaction and Visual design).
  • Design Systems Expertise: Proven experience creating assets and maintaining comprehensive documentation for design systems.
  • Advanced Responsive Design: Strong mastery of current best practices for both Responsive Web and Mobile platforms.
  • UX Methodology & Content-First Approach: A demonstrable understanding of Design Thinking processes, with a preference for content-first design strategies.
  • Critical Thinking & Autonomy: Strong decision-making skills and the ability to navigate uncertainty proactively.
  • Communication: Exceptional English communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to clearly articulate design rationale to cross-functional stakeholders.

Nice-to-Have Experience:

  • Proficiency in UX Research methodologies.
  • Deep understanding of Inclusive Design and Accessibility (AODA/WCAG).
  • Experience facilitating design workshops or design sprints.
  • Bilingualism in French is a strong asset.

What We Will Build Together
We are actively fostering a holistic Product Designer Mindset within our team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to expand your skills and help others grow in:

  • Business concepts, tools, and financial processes
  • Advanced Systems Thinking
  • Co-creative workshop facilitation and stakeholder management

The target hiring compensation range for this role is C$45 to C$50 hr. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
