Lead Product Designer (Interaction / Systems Design) – Payment Modernization

Role Overview

We are looking for a visionary, deeply experienced Lead Product Designer to join our team in revolutionizing the commercial banking experience. In this role, you will be the embedded design leader for a dedicated squad focused entirely on payment modernization.

You will partner closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Engineers to design, build, and launch a new, industry-leading business banking portal for commercial clients. You won’t just be designing interfaces—you’ll be shaping the future of how businesses interact with their money, ensuring our platform is scalable, intuitive, and groundbreaking.

What You’ll Do

Strategic Leadership & Collaboration

  • Be a Strategic Partner: Act as a critical peer to product owners and business analysts, translating complex business requirements into elegant, user-centric experiences.
  • Facilitate & Align: Lead dynamic collaboration and co-creation sessions with cross-functional stakeholders, earning trust through design expertise and clear communication.
  • Cross-Discipline Partnership: Collaborate with Design Researchers, Visual Designers, and Content Designers to deliver holistic, well-rounded solutions that balance user needs with business goals.
  • Support the Design Guild: Act as a mentor and ally to design peers (such as Content Designers split across squads) to help them navigate competing demands and balance their workloads effectively.

Execution & Systems Thinking

  • Design for Scale: Identify common design patterns and contribute to our robust design systems and asset libraries to ensure consistency across the portal.
  • Bridge Design & Code: Work hand-in-hand with development teams to ensure design integrity is maintained all the way to the code level.
  • Navigate Agile Realities: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize your own workload independently, and pivot gracefully when responding to client feedback or technical constraints.
  • Document Decisions: Maintain clear documentation of design decisions, user flows, and wireframes to keep the broader team aligned.

  • Deep Interaction Design Expertise: Mastery of complex digital product design, including intricate user flows, detailed wireframing, and interactive prototyping.
  • Systems Thinking: The ability to design holistically across highly interconnected digital experiences while respecting technical boundaries.
  • Inclusive Design Champion: Deep knowledge of accessibility best practices (including WCAG guidelines) to ensure we build inclusive experiences for all users.
  • Resilience & Agility: A proven track record of handling tough stakeholder or client feedback with grace, adapting to change, and celebrating collective wins.

Experience & Qualifications

We are looking for a seasoned professional with deep domain expertise. Ideal candidates will match the following profile blends:

  • Interaction Design (IxD): 10–15+ years of dedicated experience designing complex digital products.
  • Content Design (CD) Integration: 3–10+ years of experience collaborating deeply with or managing content strategy workflows.
  • Design Research (DR): 5+ years of experience leveraging data and user research to rigorously guide the design process.
  • Domain Expertise: Prior experience or deep understanding of Financial Services / Commercial Banking is highly preferred.
  • Tech Literacy: Familiarity with front-end technologies and a strong understanding of how design translates into development.
