About the Opportunity

What You’ll Do
You will play a pivotal role in enhancing user comprehension, facilitating analytical thinking, and ensuring design inclusivity. Your contributions will span strategic design, artifact creation, and rigorous research, all aimed at delivering superior digital products. This role offers the chance to lead, innovate, and collaborate, directly contributing to the success of groundbreaking initiatives.
- Understand user interface patterns and behaviors to enhance user comprehension and task performance.
- Utilize visualizations and interactions to support analytical thinking, especially with large datasets.
- Facilitate design critiques, evaluate interactions for inclusivity, and provide expert guidance to cross-functional teams.
- Lead ideation sessions and collaborative work activities.
- Serve as the subject-matter expert for interaction design within the product design team.
- Apply a comprehensive understanding of interaction design theory, visual design theory, research data, and best practices to inform design decisions.
- Develop complex low-fidelity sketches, wireframes, and prototypes to explore, communicate, and validate ideas effectively.
- Create advanced prototypes to provide precise delivery specifications for development teams.
- Present sophisticated interaction design work to senior stakeholders, articulating vision and rationale.
- Facilitate impactful usability testing sessions.
- Actively participate in or initiate critical research activities.
- Investigate interaction design strategies within the sector and conduct competitive audits relevant to specific design or business objectives.
- Perform thorough pattern, micro-interaction, and component design audits as needed.
What You’ll Bring
Must-Have Qualifications
- BA/BS degree in Design (e.g., interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), or equivalent practical experience.
- A compelling portfolio showcasing application design samples.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in designing usable interfaces across diverse channels and platforms.
- Proven experience in an applied research setting, including integrating user research into product designs and practices.
- Demonstrated ability to clearly articulate design strategy, rationale, and logic, detailing benefits and highlighting risks associated with design decisions.
- Expertise with industry-standard design, prototyping, and research tools such as Figma, Mural, and UserTesting.com.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- MA/MS degree or certification in Design (e.g., interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), or a related field.
- Strong understanding of the strengths and shortcomings of various research methods, including when and how to apply them across different product phases.
- An appreciation for the potential of ‘design thinking’.
- Experience working within a large organization and an agile environment.
