John H. Chuang started Aquent in his Harvard dorm room and for 35 years has led his company to become one of the largest work solutions company in the world, currently with 10,000 employees. John pioneered comprehensive health benefits to contract workers 30 years before the gig economy and was the first in his industry to offer national sick leave including 25 states without a requirement. His advocacy of talent has been featured in numerous national media including: New York Times, NPR, CBS, Fox, Fast Company, CNBC, Bloomberg, and the Boston Globe. Harvard Business School wrote and taught a case study on the benefits of talent care based on John's innovative work. Currently, with active construction of alternative energy projects, in 2023 Aquent will be the first in its industry to be massively carbon negative and will eliminate its historic footprint by 2030. Daniel Pink in Fast Company remarked “if you want to understand the economy's future, look to where [John's company] is going.”
John was the lead investor, director, and largest shareholder of Angie's List during its growth years as the company built a breakthrough consumer brand and pioneered reviews of service providers. He later served as Chairman after a successful IPO. John is currently actively investing and contributing to the growth of Make My Move, MetaCX, HealthRhythms, and redeveloping 3 blocks of downtown Indianapolis.
John has won numerous awards and distinctions including Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year, US Pan Asian American Excellence Award, and Inc 500. In addition to speaking at a wide range of talent and business conferences, John has recently shared his insights on technology transfer through understanding the history of New England violin making at the Museum Fine Arts, Boston.
John graduated with honors from Harvard College and Harvard Business School.
