A recent episode of the NPR podcast, The Indicator from Planet Money, featured a conversation with Stephen Webster, a Prompt Engineer with Aquent Studios. Webster discussed the unexpected path that led him to this role, which emerged with the rise of AI technologies like OpenAI's ChatGPT. Initially a technical writer for Google, Webster's role shifted as the company sought to compete in the burgeoning AI landscape. He’s currently working through Agent Studios at a pharmaceutical company where he’s helping build an AI tool that, among other things, can generate articles complete with citations to scientific research. During the podcast, Webster shared insights into the creative and experimental nature of prompt engineering, highlighting its rapid growth and the high demand for these skills. Webster recounted his experiences developing AI applications and reflected on the future of the field, predicting that prompt engineering will become a ubiquitous skill as AI continues to evolve.
