This is a Vancouver, BC based position with 2 days remote (M/F) and 3 days onsite (T/W/R). It will start as a 6 month engagement and could extend up to 18 months.

Role Overview
As a UI Software Engineer, you will be at the forefront of creating captivating user interfaces for a leading gaming studio. You’ll architect and build robust systems that empower artists and designers to realize their creative vision, focusing on performance and rapid iteration. This role offers the unique opportunity to be a driving force behind significant features, influencing both the frontend presentation and core gameplay mechanics. You’ll work with cutting-edge technology to deliver unparalleled user experiences on various gaming platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and develop high-performance UI systems using C++, leveraging modern game engines and UI frameworks.
  • Collaborate closely with artists and designers to translate creative concepts into functional and engaging user interfaces.
  • Optimize UI performance and ensure a smooth, responsive player experience.
  • Drive the implementation of large-scale features, contributing to both user interface and gameplay aspects.
  • Contribute to a diverse and passionate team dedicated to pushing the boundaries of interactive entertainment.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated software engineering experience in video game development, with strong proficiency in C++.
  • A Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent practical experience and education.
  • Possess strong programming skills, suitable for an early career professional.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience shipping professional game projects, particularly those involving UI development.
  • Familiarity with leading game engines and UI frameworks, such as Unreal Engine and Unreal Motion Graphics (UMG).
  • A proven track record of building user interfaces for games.
  • A deep passion for and obsession with the player experience.
