Overview

Placement Type:

Temporary

Salary:

$31.50-35 Hourly

Start Date:

Mar 4, 2026

We are seeking a detail-oriented Piping Designer to bridge the gap between digital 3D models and physical plant assets for a major specialty chemical manufacturer. This is a dynamic hybrid role: while primarily office-based, you will spend approximately 10–15% of your time in the field performing walkdowns, verifying as-built conditions, and physically tagging equipment in an active production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Modeling: Generate and revise PFDs, P&IDs, 3D models, plot plans, and ISOs using AutoCAD Plant 3D or Cadworx.
  • Field Verification: Conduct walkdowns in various weather conditions to confirm that “as-built” piping matches digital records and site standards.
  • Asset Management: Assign and physically identify equipment numbers for new and existing assets; maintain the Master Tag Database for instruments and piping.
  • Collaboration: Work directly with Engineers and Construction crews to ensure project deliverables are technically sound, on time, and within budget.
  • Document Control: Oversee the organization and storage of both digital and physical design records, including hard copy drawing management.

What You Bring to the Team

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of Piping Design experience, specifically within the Chemical or Oil & Gas industry.
  • Technical Mastery: High proficiency in AutoCAD Plant 3D and/or Cadworx 3D (v. 2026 or earlier).
  • Industrial Literacy: A solid understanding of industry piping standards, specialty item lists, and chemical site safety protocols.
  • Field Readiness: Comfort navigating an active manufacturing site (climbing stairs/catwalks) and a commitment to wearing required PPE (FRC, steel toes, etc.).
  • Education: Associate’s degree in CAD or a related technical field is preferred.
