In this vital role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the seamless flow of complex surgical procedures, directly impacting patient journeys and supporting our dedicated medical teams. **What You’ll Do:**

As a Surgery Coordinator, you will be the cornerstone of our surgical scheduling and patient preparation process. Your contributions will ensure that every patient’s surgical experience is meticulously planned and executed, from initial scheduling to post-operative readiness. You will play a key role in coordinating across multiple departments, ensuring all logistical and administrative requirements are met with precision.

* **Surgical Case Scheduling:**
* Coordinate scheduling for complex surgical procedures across various specialties.
* Align surgical dates with surgeons and operating room availability.
* Accurately enter and maintain comprehensive case details within scheduling systems.
* Confirm surgeon availability, specialized equipment, implant, and instrumentation needs.
* **Preoperative Coordination:**
* Ensure all necessary preoperative testing (e.g., labs, imaging, medical clearance) is ordered and completed.
* Liaise with primary care providers and specialists to secure surgical clearance.
* Confirm the completion of all required consent forms and documentation.
* Verify that essential medical documentation meets facility standards

* **Insurance & Authorization:**
* Demonstrate a strong understanding of insurance processes.
* Collaborate with the authorization team to monitor the status of patient procedure authorizations.
* Effectively communicate authorization updates to providers and patients.

* **Patient Communication:**
* Provide patients with crucial information regarding surgery dates, times, locations, and preoperative instructions.
* Educate patients on preparation requirements, including fasting, medication adjustments, and arrival times.
* Serve as the primary point of contact for all surgical-related inquiries.
* Manage rescheduling or cancellations efficiently as needed.

* **Vendor Coordination:**
* Arrange for vendor representatives to support specialized equipment or implant needs.
* Confirm the availability of implants and address specific surgical requirements.

* **Documentation & Compliance:**
* Maintain precise and up-to-date electronic medical record (EMR) documentation.
* Ensure coding and procedure details accurately reflect the scheduled case.
* Track surgical metrics and maintain detailed scheduling logs.
* Uphold the highest standards of patient confidentiality and compliance.

**What You’ll Bring:**

**Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:**

* High school diploma or equivalent; an Associate’s degree is preferred.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems, with a preference for industry-leading platforms.

* **Must-Have Skills:**
1. Knowledge of CPT codes, ICD-10 coding basics, and insurance authorization processes.
2. Experience with EMR systems and surgical scheduling platforms.
3. Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.

**Nice-to-Have Skills:**

1. Ability to effectively manage a high volume of surgical cases.
2. Strong multitasking and time management capabilities.
3. Effective communication skills with patients and multidisciplinary teams.
4. A proven ability to problem-solve scheduling conflicts efficiently.
5. High level of accuracy and thorough follow-through in all tasks.

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $35.81 to $38.96 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
