We are seeking a talented Applications Engineer to contribute directly to the stability and performance of essential systems, ensuring seamless operations and enhancing the user experience for millions. This Applications Engineer will support full-stack development within site reliability engineering (SRE) incident management solutions. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining critical applications that ensure system resilience and rapid incident resolution. You’ll collaborate closely with a small, dedicated team of engineers and cross-functional SREs, contributing to high-impact projects and continuously improving our operational capabilities. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply your expertise in a fast-paced environment, directly influencing the reliability and performance of essential services.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to full-stack development efforts for SRE incident management solutions.
- Design, develop, and troubleshoot APIs and microservices.
- Collaborate with a team of engineers and cross-functional SREs on various projects.
- Participate in an on-call rotation (infrequent, approximately every 5 weeks) to support critical systems.
- Leverage your experience to build robust and scalable cloud-based applications.
- Engage in continuous learning and improvement, staying abreast of new technologies and best practices. *
Qualifications
- 5-7 years of experience in a software development role.
- Proficiency in Java development.
- Demonstrated experience with cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). *
- Proven ability to build APIs and troubleshoot microservices.
- Strong understanding of backend development principles; full-stack development experience is highly preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High degree of honesty and a willingness to ask questions when unsure.
- Strong punctuality and reliability. *
- Ability to quickly grasp and contribute to the team’s existing software stack and processes.
- A degree in a relevant field is nice-to-have.
- AWS certification is a nice-to-have.
- Familiarity with AI tools for code development is a nice-to-have.
