A well-known specialty retail brand is looking for an Associate Product Developer to own the end-to-end sampling process across designated product categories. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role sitting within the Product Development team, working closely with Design, Merchandising, Raw Materials, and more.
What You’ll Do
- Order and track sample yardage at a greige and color level within the PLM system
- Own all sampling needs for assigned product categories, ensuring accurate and on-time receipt of garment samples
- Process vendor and supplier invoices for sample yardage and sample-making costs
- Keep consistent communication with vendors and suppliers, holding them to brand calendar timelines
- Liaise between cross-functional partners including Design, PD, Raw Materials, Print and Color, Marketing, and Merchandising
- Attend weekly cross-functional meetings and represent all sampling-related topics
- Maintain seasonal sample yardage cost and readiness reporting
- Keep the seasonal sample tracker updated with readiness reporting ahead of key milestone meetings
- Help build leadership dashboards with headlines and metrics for milestone meetings
- Observe business processes, flag areas for improvement, and anticipate needs before they become problems
- Manage physical samples: moving boxes (up to 30 lbs), hanging and arranging product, maneuvering rolling racks, packing samples for shipment
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Product Development or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 1-3 years of related experience (recent grads with solid internship experience encouraged to apply)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Understanding of the product lifecycle in a retail setting
- Basic garment construction knowledge
- Basic PLM knowledge (Centric is a big plus)
- Fabric knowledge is a plus
- Ability to stay calm under pressure, juggle competing priorities, and be a genuine team player
